Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CCSC?
CCSC originated as a dream to have a training facility in Columbia where the owners could not only train their own dogs, but help other people who wanted to train dogs. It is a labor of love and a gift of knowlege and expertise to the community.
Are there Open Hours at CCSC?
Not really. CCSC is open during class operation but is not kept open all day or during non-class hours. Those who wish to access the building for dog training in off hours can purchase a Building Membership.
I heard CCSC is only for people who are "Professionals," or who want to show their dogs. Is that true?
Absolutely not. CCSC's primary goal is to help you learn to develop a companion that's a joy to live with. Our classes are for all needs, from those who want basic pet manners on up.
However, because all CCSC instructors do show their dogs in one or more dog sports, we try to teach in such a way that if a student ever decides they want to enter the dog sport and show world, they will be successful. We try to give a good foundation that will carry each student to whatever goal they choose. All of our dogs are beloved pets and companions first!
How large are your classes?
CCSC's classes are kept very small so that each student gets a lot of individual attention. Most classes are limited to 8 students, many with two instructors. No one ever gets lost in the crowd at CCSC.
How much do classes cost?
Our classes are $90 for the six week session. Some people have mistakenly thought that meant $90 per week, but the $90 is for the entire course. If you take two or more classes in the same session, the additional class(es) are $80 for the entire course. We offer building memberships for the duration of class for an additional $40. A building membership means you can access the building during all off hours and practice on our professional equipment.
Why do you have a late fee?
Because of the extra work involved in processing late enrollments, there is be a $20 per class Late Enrollment Fee for all enrollments received AFTER Orientation. Orientation is the week before the start of each set of classes, generally on a Wednesday or Thursday.
What if I want a refund or miss a class?
We strictly limit the number of students per class. As such, once classes have started, there are no refunds, nor are there “make-up” classes. Prior to enrolling, we encourage you to visit Columbia Canine Sports Center to observe our classes to be certain CCSC is the right place for you. Ask us about which class will meet your needs best.
Do I have to be on the mailing list?
No, you aren't required to be on the CCSC mailing list. However, if you choose to not be on the list you may miss very important announcements, such as class cancellations due to weather or an ill instructor. If you are not on the list, it will be your responsibility to check with us if you feel the weather is inclement.
What is the best way to get in touch with CCSC?
Our phone is checked daily but usually not answered. The best way to get in touch with us is through the email contacts on the website.
